The fund is structured to pool capital and invest in private-company shares before a potential public listing, allowing retail participants to gain indirect exposure to companies like SpaceX. With 40 million shares priced at $25 each, the fund provides a gateway to some of the world’s most anticipated IPO candidates. And to sweeten the deal, Robinhood is waving the performance fees and only charging half of its management fee for the first six months.
Breaking the Barriers of Private Equity
With incentives like lower fees, no minimum buy-ins and diversification of the fund, Robinhood is bringing venture-style investing to everyday traders. This move to open private-market opportunities that were once reserved for institutional players and high-net-worth individuals is quickly reverberating.
Following in these footsteps is Powerlaw Corp., which has over $1.2 billion in asset management and plans to sell its shares to give retail investors a shot at investing.
