The Clean 16

The Clean 16 are the 16 crypto assets formally classified as digital commodities by the SEC in March 2026. Named after the SEC’s landmark crypto taxonomy interpretation, these assets are now officially outside SEC securities jurisdiction and under CFTC oversight. The list includes XRP, ETH, SOL, ADA, DOGE, LTC, BCH, XLM, AVAX, DOT, ALGO, APT, LINK, HBAR, XTZ, and SHIB. The classification came from a joint 68-page interpretation released by the SEC and CFTC on March 17, 2026. It ended more than a decade of regulatory uncertainty for these assets.
