- Shiba Inu expanded its real-world utility after Dubai Duty Free enabled Crypto.com Pay for SHIB and 29 other cryptocurrencies
- PEPE coin price is back in focus after 4.54 trillion tokens left exchanges, marking the largest net outflow since November 2024
- Growing SHIB adoption and bullish on-chain signals are fueling speculation that the meme coin sector could be preparing for a major comeback
For much of 2026, meme coins have struggled to command the same attention they enjoyed during previous market rallies. This, however, may be starting to change. Shiba Inu (SHIB) has secured another real-world adoption milestone, while fresh on-chain activity surrounding the PEPE coin price has traders watching for signs of accumulation. These developments have stirred conversation among meme coin enthusiasts.

Shiba Inu Expands Utility While PEPE Coin Price Gains Fresh Attention

The latest boost for SHIB adoption comes from the United Arab Emirates, where Dubai Duty Free has integrated Crypto.com Pay. This allows eligible customers to pay with Shiba Inu and 29 other cryptocurrencies across its airport stores and online platform. The move makes Dubai Duty Free the first airport retailer in the Middle East to introduce the regulated payment solution. This gives SHIB another real-world use case beyond trading.
Shiba Inu’s Dubai milestone also points to a bigger trend across the crypto industry. Payment providers and merchants have been steadily expanding digital asset acceptance as regulators introduce clearer frameworks for crypto payments. Crypto.com Pay now supports millions of users globally, with merchant adoption continuing to grow. Eric Anziani, President and Chief Operating Officer, Crypto.com, said,
“Partnering with Emirates is a milestone for Crypto.com and our Pay feature, which is renowned for its ease of use and seamless integration. This collaboration is a testament to the UAE’s forward-thinking approach to innovation, and we’re proud to support Emirates as it embraces the digital payments space.”

PEPE’s On-Chain Activity Hints at Growing Conviction
While SHIB is gaining traction through utility, PEPE coin price discussions have been driven by blockchain data. According to on-chain analytics platform Santiment, around 4.54 trillion PEPE tokens left centralized exchanges in a single day. This marks the memecoin’s largest net exchange outflow since November 2024.

Large exchange outflows are often viewed as a sign that investors are moving tokens into self-custody rather than positioning them for immediate selling. Although the metric does not guarantee higher prices, it has historically been monitored as a potential indicator of longer-term accumulation. At press time, PEPE Coin’s price stood at $0.000002790 following a 2.72% decline over the past 24 hours.
Crypto commentator David Gokhshtein echoed a sentiment this week, arguing that meme coins tend to perform best when established names such as Shiba Inu, Dogecoin and PEPE regain momentum. Rather than chasing newly launched tokens. He believes leadership from larger meme assets often sets the tone for the rest of the sector.
The latest developments stop short of confirming that a new meme coin rally has begun. But stronger SHIB adoption, expanding real-world utility, and improving on-chain signals tied to the PEPE coin price suggest investors have new reasons to keep the sector on their radar.
