The story began circulating on X this week after a user identified as “cprkrn” shared details about recovering roughly 5 BTC from a wallet. He revealed that he had been locked out of the wallet since 2015. The case quickly gained attention across the AI and crypto communities. This was partly because it involved Anthropic’s Claude assisting with wallet recovery.

According to the posts shared online, the user had forgotten part of the wallet password after changing it years ago. He claimed to have spent years trying password combinations and using recovery tools without success. The recovery reportedly happened after he uploaded files from an old college computer into Claude. The AI model helped identify a wallet backup file and connect it with a seed phrase written in an old notebook.

Blockchain activity linked to the wallet appears to support the claim. Data from Blockchair shows older Bitcoin transactions tied to the address dating back to 2015, along with more recent transfers that appeared after the recovery story surfaced.

The letter, led by Rep. Bob Latta, specifically pointed out prominent AI systems. This included Anthropic’s Mythos and OpenAI’s GPT-5.5 Cyber. Lawmakers warned that AI-generated vulnerability discoveries could overwhelm existing cybersecurity response systems if governments and private firms fail to adapt quickly. The lawmakers wrote,

“The lesson from Mythos is not limited to cybersecurity or to just one company.”

The discussion arises as stories involving Anthropic Claude and Bitcoin wallet recovery continue circulating online. This adds to wider conversations around how advanced AI models are increasingly being used in sensitive digital and financial environments.
