Samsung is preparing to bring stablecoins to one of the world’s largest mobile ecosystems. During its Galaxy Unpacked event, the company revealed plans to expand Samsung Wallet beyond conventional payments by introducing native support for digital assets. The update arrives as stablecoins continue to gain traction across global finance. Banks, payment firms and technology companies are boosting their blockchain strategies. Despite this notable update, the stock continues to stay on the down low.

Samsung Wallet Expands Into Stablecoins

The company said Samsung Wallet will support stablecoins as part of its effort to combine payments, rewards and digital assets into a single platform. Speaking at Galaxy Unpacked, product manager Lee Dinham said the feature would make Samsung “one of the first major mobile brands to bring native stablecoins to a smartphone.” It is enabling users to transfer digital value quickly and securely.
The company has not disclosed which stablecoins will be supported, when the feature will launch, or which issuers it plans to work with. During the presentation, Samsung also showcased a USDC interface with options to send, receive, and top up digital assets. It offered an early look at the Wallet’s planned functionality.
Samsung’s announcement comes as stablecoins continue gaining traction in mainstream payments. According to Visa’s onchain dashboard, adjusted stablecoin transaction volume reached a record $1.79 trillion in June 2026, up 63% from May and 125% year over year. During the first half of 2026, Circle’s USDC also widened its lead over Tether’s USDT by transaction volume.

Samsung Builds On Its Crypto Ecosystem
Samsung has been steadily expanding its blockchain offerings over the past few years. In October 2025, the company partnered with Coinbase, allowing eligible Galaxy users in the US to purchase cryptocurrencies directly through Samsung Wallet. The rollout initially targeted more than 75 million Galaxy users, with wider availability expected over time.
The company’s financial ecosystem has also grown with the introduction of Galaxy Card. This came with Wallet features that already store payment cards, loyalty programs, and digital credentials.
Outside Samsung, stablecoins have become a major focus for financial institutions following growing regulatory clarity in several markets. This includes the US and Europe.

Amidst this notable development, Samsung shares closed about 7.6% lower on Friday. The decline came alongside the wallet announcement, though the company did not link the share price movement to its stablecoin plans.
