- Strategy raised $730 million over two weeks but skipped buying Bitcoin, growing its cash reserves to $3.2 billion instead
- US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $727.3 million in net inflows over five consecutive trading sessions as BTC climbed back above $65,000
- The Crypto Fear & Greed Index improved from 25 (Extreme Fear) to 33 (Fear), fueling debate over whether Strategy is waiting for a better Bitcoin entry point
The industry expected another Bitcoin purchase from Strategy after the company raised hundreds of millions of dollars. The announcement never came. Instead, Strategy quietly expanded its cash reserves while money continued flowing into US spot Bitcoin ETFs. At the same time, Bitcoin climbed back above $65,000 and market sentiment began to recover from recent lows. The pause has left investors debating whether the company’s patience is simply temporary or part of a bigger shift in its long-running Bitcoin strategy.

Strategy Breaks From Its Usual Bitcoin Buying Playbook

For years, Strategy’s formula barely changed. Raise capital, buy Bitcoin, repeat. This pattern seems to have stalled over the past two weeks. The company raised roughly $730 million through separate equity offerings, including $467 million one week and another $263 million the next. But didn’t add a single Bitcoin to its balance sheet. Instead, it boosted cash reserves by another $225 million, leaving it with about $3.2 billion in liquidity.
The reserve has become part of the discussion. Strategy’s preferred stock, STRC, remains nearly 15% below the $100 level. This limits the company’s ability to raise additional capital through its at-the-market program. Holding more cash may help strengthen the balance sheet while giving Strategy greater flexibility before making another large Bitcoin purchase.
The move has also drawn criticism. Some shareholders argue that continued capital raises without fresh BTC accumulation increase dilution while leaving Strategy’s signature playbook on hold.

Bitcoin ETF Inflows Tell a Different Story
While Strategy waited, institutional demand did not disappear. According to SoSoValue, US spot Bitcoin ETF inflows reached $727.3 million across five consecutive trading sessions. This is the strongest streak since early May. Monday alone brought $226.9 million in net inflows as Bitcoin’s price reclaimed the $65,000 level. At press time, Bitcoin’s price stood at $65,937.94 following a slight correction of 0.34% over the past 24 hours.

Market sentiment has also started to improve. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index climbed from 25, classified as Extreme Fear last week, to 33, still in Fear territory. But it pointed to a modest recovery in confidence.

Strategy has not explained why it skipped another purchase. For now, the contrast is difficult to ignore. ETF investors are steadily adding exposure while Bitcoin’s largest corporate holder is sitting on $3.2 billion in cash, waiting to make its next move.
