Key Takeaways
- HYPE futures open interest surged 32% in a week to $3 billion as the token hit a new all-time high
- Hyperliquid now controls 53% of decentralized perpetual trading volume, far ahead of rivals
- Polymarket traders currently assign an 82% chance of HYPE reaching $80 by the end of 2026
It seems like Hyperliquid keeps finding ways to separate itself from the rest of the market. While many altcoins are struggling to regain momentum, HYPE has climbed to fresh all-time highs. It is even attracting billions of dollars in new futures positioning. The token briefly touched $76.85 this week before dropping, but traders don’t seem convinced the rally is over. One number in particular is starting to stand out as speculation around an $80 breakout picks up.

Why Hyperliquid’s Open Interest Growth Has Traders Watching $80

Open interest tied to HYPE futures has climbed to roughly $3 billion, up 32% from a week ago. At the same time, Hyperliquid continues to dominate decentralized perpetual futures trading, holding more than half of the market’s total volume based on DefiLlama data.
This growth comes as the platform expands beyond crypto-native products. Hyperliquid offers perpetual contracts linked to assets such as gold, silver, crude oil, the Nasdaq-100, the S&P 500, and even private market names like SpaceX. Open interest tied to these TradFi-style products has reportedly crossed $2.9 billion.
Talos recently pointed to Hyperliquid’s $10 billion open interest milestone as evidence that traders are increasingly looking for around-the-clock access to markets that were previously limited to traditional trading hours.

HYPE Price Holds Near Record Levels as Polymarket Bets Turn Bullish

HYPE briefly hit a record high of $76.85 earlier this week, before pulling back into the low-$70 range. Even after the correction, the token remains up more than 27% over the past seven days, making it one of the strongest-performing large-cap cryptocurrencies during the period. This further pushed the community to bet on HYPE hitting $80.

A Polymarket contract asking if Hyperliquid will reach $80 in June 2026 now shows an 53% probability. This shows how quickly sentiment has shifted along with the token’s recent rally.
