The current XRP ledger activity collapse is the latest talk of the crypto town, inviting intense scrutiny across the sector. The network’s on-chain metrics are telling a different story, with XRPL’s real-world asset transfer volume dropping nearly 80%. In addition to this, XRPL stablecoin volume is also declining, falling nearly 28%. This showcases the network’s weak institutional usage, bringing focus on its steadily declining reputation. Amid the chaos, the network is also gearing up for a massive XRPL ledger upgrade, which, if successfully deployed, may end up reversing all flaws in its system. The recent XRPL ledger activity collapse is impacting its well-established reputation at the moment. Data from XRP Scan shows how the network’s active accounts, measuring unique senders, have dropped to a YTD low of 7630 on July 20.

In addition to this, XRPL stablecoin volume has also taken a toll in the middle, dropping by more than 28%. Among other notable declines, XRPL tokenization volume also fell dramatically, by nearly 80% to 99.49M. The XRPL network collapse is leading to another market frenzy, resulting in whales adopting a cautious stance. XRPL’s Biggest Update Under Works: Can It Reverse Its Declining Metrics?

Amid all the breaking news of the XRPL network collapse, a new XRPL network upgrade is also underway. This upgrade intends to fix XRPL in new ways, bringing its new side to life. For instance, this new XRPL network upgrade focuses on features such as batch transactions and private transfers. Touted as one of the biggest network updates in two years, validators are expected to vote on it within the next two weeks.

Exploring the update in depth, the XRP ledger upgrade is all about new batch transactions bundling multiple transactions in one group. Other than that, the update proposes the concept of private or confidential transfers.  This will enable the usage of zk-proof to hide the details of the transfer while still allowing auditors to verify them.

Moreover, the concept of sponsored fees is also proposed in the XRP ledger upgrade. In addition to this, concepts such as accounts granting limited permissions through permission delegation and enabling token issuers to modify token properties after issuance are also up for discussion in the proposed network update.

With such new features in the queue, the XRP Ledger Network collapse may end up reversing, as a new influx of customers may join to support the new additions. This may also help the XRP tokenization volume and XRPL stablecoin volume to reach optimum levels, with XRP whale and ETF accumulation gaining standard strength and control.
