US President Donald Trump has said that talks with Iran to end the war are nearing finalization, according to a Truth Social post on Saturday night. Trump said the pact’s terms are “largely negotiated” and would be revealed shortly. A peace deal would lead to the end of the Iran War and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The two main points: Iran’s Uranium holdings and the Strait of Hormuz, are also covered in the proposed deal. Here’s what it includes.

According to President Trump, the peace deal with Iran had been “largely negotiated.” However, the deal is still “subject to finalization between” the U.S., Iran and “various other” Middle Eastern nations, he said entering the weekend.

“An agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran,” and mediating nations, Trump said on Truth Social. “In addition to many other elements of the Agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened.”

The Deal would give the U.S. and Iran 30 days to reach a final pact. The timeline could extend another month if need be, officials from the U.S. and mediating nations said Saturday night.

Is Trump Giving Up More Than He Wanted to End Iran War?

According to Al Jazeera, the Iran deals includes unfreezing billions in Iranian funds, lifting U.S. blockade, pulling U.S. forces away, reopening strait of Hormuz through with tolls to Iran, and allowing Iran to keep its enriched uranium. Iran’s uranium holdings changing hands was something that Trump previously said was a non-negotiable. Iran even rejected this demand in the previous round of talks, however Trump has submitted to that demand.

Furthermore, Trump had repeatedly promised to deliver an agreement which would impose stricter controls on Iran’s nuclear program than the 2015 nuclear deal he pulled the U.S. out of in 2018. That included at least 15-year caps on the amount and purity of enriched uranium Tehran could produce. The deal, according to Al Jazeera reporting, doesn’t cover half of that. It could instead be an effort to end the war and free up a fifth of the world’s oil that’s being held at the Strait of Hormuz.

There has been no formal response from Iran to Trump’s claim. However, per New York Times sources, three Iranian officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly, said that Tehran had agreed to a memorandum of understanding that would stop the fighting on all fronts. Should the deal go through, oil prices will likely finally cool after recently reclaiming $100.
