The gold price is currently gaining fresh support as investors are turning back to the basics. The price of the precious yellow metal is projected to hit $4,900 to $5,100 in the latest Wells Fargo gold price target as investors tilt towards gold for better market protection. Wells Fargo has maintained a bullish gold price outlook as the institution believes that the metal has the power to hit $4,900 to $5,100 by the end of 2026. However, Wells Fargo noted that the path higher could be uneven and that gold has not necessarily bottomed yet, with near-term downside risks still possible. This prediction has come at a time when Gold ETF demand is accelerating, giving a notable boost to the metal.

Gold ETF Inflows Point To A Renewed Investors Demand

The latest gold ETF inflows have added another bullish boost to gold price pace. Global physically backed gold ETFs have attracted nearly $3B in July, reversing two consecutive months of outflows. Per the latest update shared by the Kobiessi Letter,
Gold ETF demand has skyrocketed, attracting nearly $10B in the last six weeks. These inflows are equal to 72.2 tons of gold, bringing the ETF holdings number to 4114 tonnes.
“Over this 6-week period, ETFs have attracted +$10.0 billion in inflows. This is equivalent to +72.2 tons of gold, bringing ETF holdings up to 4,114 tons, the highest since May. European funds led last week’s demand at +$2.3 billion, followed by North America at +$1.1 billion, and Asia at +$200 million. Global demand for gold is acclerating sharply.”
This market trend is suggestive of how gold ETF demand is now accelerating, as investors return to the asset to seek better safety.
At the same time, Gold price is also witnessing bullish projection as investors continue to rotate their portfolios to seek an all around protection against market fluctuations

Gold Price Outlook Changed: $4900 In Sight?
Gold has now gained a significant boost as leading financial institution Wells Fargo revised its 2026 year-end gold target to $4,900-$5,100 per ounce. The institution shared that gold may hit $4,900 to $5,100 by the end of 2026. Earlier, the institution had predicted a price threshold of $5,100 to $5,500. However, the recent figures align well with the gold price pace at the moment.
Central banks have also been steadily accumulating the asset, bettering gold’s outlook for the future. Wells Fargo noted that central-bank purchases rebounded in the second quarter, supporting its positive outlook for gold.
Per Kitco, strategists at Wells Fargo shared how central banks and investors never really abandoned the asset. Gold price is set to rise 11% from now to year-end, as prospects for gold’s outlook gain strength with time. Strategists at Well Fargo later shared:
“After a challenging five months, gold is regaining momentum, supported by hopes for progress toward negotiations in the Middle East and by investors scaling back expectations for Fed rate hikes,” the strategists wrote in their latest report. “Gold prices rose more than 7% during the first week of August, marking the strongest weekly gain since January. ETF flows also improved, with outflows stabilizing and even beginning to reverse higher.”
For now, the price of gold is heavily supported by rising ETF demand, which, if sustained, may end up bolstering its future price outlook.
